Four-star OT target Claude Mpouma sets commitment date

Four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma of Chicago (Illi.) Mount Carmel, who named the Florida Gators his leader following his official visit last weekend to Gainesville, has set his commitment date. It will be June 29, he revealed Friday on X.
Mpouma, the No. 14 offensive tackle and No. 175 overall recruit in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings, also is considering Auburn, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State. He is officially visiting the Cornhuskers this weekend. Nebraska is the On3 RPM favorite.
The Gators currently have four offensive line commitments. Mpouma is one of only a handful of targets left on the board as Florida looks to close out its offensive line class. It could be a first-in-the-boat situation for the linemen on the UF board.
“I had a great time spending time (at UF on his official visit) with the coaches and the players,” Mpouma told Gators Online last Sunday. “I was just enjoying it. The highlight of the visit, I would probably say lunch [on Saturday].”
Per Blake Alderman of Gators Line, Florida assistant offensive line coach John Decoster has made a strong impression on Mpouma since offering earlier this year. Decoster, along with offensive coach Rob Sale, are leading the charge for UF.

“I had a pretty good conversation with my position coaches,” Mpouma said. “Made me understand that I’m a priority for them, and they really like me. Talking to the head coach was also pretty good. I feel like I’m comfortable around them. I just enjoy talking to them every day.”
Asked where UF sat following his visit, Mpouma replied, “On top. I mean, it’s Florida.”
Auburn was the No. 1 school for Mpouma going into last weekend, but the Gators showed enough to open the door for them to jump the Tigers.
“Like I said, I feel comfortable over here,” Mpouma said. “I feel like I’m home, so that’s probably a big thing for me.”
