Four-star running back Treyaun Webb includes Florida Gators in top five
Five schools are sitting out front in the recruitment of Treyaun Webb: Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State and Baylor. Those will be the schools the 2023 prospect will be taking official visits to as well.
Other than the Gators, each of those programs were previously included in Webb’s top 11; however, a recent trip to the Swamp catapulted the Gators back into top contention; in fact, there are many who believe Florida could be the front-runner heading into April.
Webb, a four-star prospect from Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian, is the No. 5 running back and No. 155 player overall. That is according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
The highly-regarded playmaker is also cousins with former UF defensive back, Dee Webb.
“They came on strong in my recruitment late. They’re building that championship culture back. From what I’ve seen from their practices, they could be a national title contender this year,” Webb told Gators Online when asked why UF made his top group.
“I always wanted to be a part of that as far as being close home and playing for my hometown. My cousin also went there, so of course the legacy thing, and the fans show a lot because my cousin played there.
“It’s close to home; why not play in front of your family?”
Florida’s head man is prioritizing Webb himself
When asked about his relationships in Gainesville, Webb says it’s certainly a group effort on behalf of the Gators.
Several coaches are making contact on a weekly basis, but the Sunshine State native says it might be Billy Napier who recruits him the hardest. The head coach covets Webb’s versatility and views him as a three-down back who could do a little bit of everything for the Gators.
“It speaks volumes when the head coach talks to you just as much or probably more than the positional coach,” Webb said. “Coach Napier said he’s going to attack the state of Florida hard. He isn’t letting any top recruits get out of Florida. He needs Florida guys to come in, play and compete against those ‘Bama boys, Clemson and Ohio State so they can win a natty.”

As expected, running backs coach Jabbar Juluke is playing a pivotal role in Florida’s pursuit as well.
“He’s a great coach. He is also a player-friendly coach,” Webb said of Juluke. “Coach Juluke is wise and coached Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice when he was at LSU. He knows how to deal with big backs like me. He is a great coach and brings the best out of you.”
Four schools have already secured an official visit date
In recent weeks, the 5-foot-11, 188-pound Webb locked in official visit dates with Baylor (6/4), Penn State (6/11), Arkansas (6/17) and South Carolina (6/24); however, with Tennessee replacing the Razorbacks in his top group, that itinerary is expected to change.
As for the Gators, proximity is certainly on their side with Webb residing just roughly an hour away from campus. A return visit date has yet to be scheduled, but Webb says Gators fans have no reason for concern.
“Honestly, I can go up there whenever I want,” Webb said of UF. “As far as trying to get down there again, I wasn’t really rushing it because I can go tomorrow because it’s so close to home, like 45 minutes away, so I can easily go there. I might go back for the spring game.”
