What the Gators are getting in Amir Jackson
Scouting report: He’s got a perfect tight end frame, at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds. He’s playing three sports in high school, so weight gain will come. Great length and vertical. Can really high point a ball. Fairly quick off the ball. Excellent hands. Transitioning from receiver to tight end, so blocking is area where he’ll need to improve.
Quoteworthy: “Outside of his length, there’s no doubt his ability to go up and make a play on the football is kind of what separates him from everyone else. Jump balls with him are not 50-50. It’s 80-20. And that’s a lot of times with two guys on him. He’s made a bunch of plays like that and that’s definitely an impressive feature of his.

The feet are great. His ability to go up when he needs to, high point the ball — you can tell that’s from rebounding the basketball. And then on top of that, his soft hands. Again, I think that comes from playing basketball since childhood.
His burst is one thing a lot of the coaches that come through watching him have been impressed by. He’s faster off the ball than some of them even thought.
I believe that he can carry 250 and nobody would even notice. He’s busy year round with multiple sports. And he’s always hungry so he’s not eating as much as he will when he gets off somewhere.” — Portal coach Jason McEachin
