Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt puts Gators in post-spring Top 25

Count Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt among those who is bullish on the Florida Gators football team in 2025. Klatt released his post-spring Top 25 rankings for the upcoming college football season and he has UF at No. 13.

“I’m just saying, I get it, the schedule is still tough,” Klatt said. “The schedule is brutal. Like OU, Florida again has another one of these terrible schedules. But man, Florida is a good team. They’re a really good team. Don’t sleep on them.”

Gators quarterback DJ Lagway, a sophomore, is at the center of Klatt’s optimism.

“Florida is at 13 for me and this is a huge belief in DJ Lagway,” Klatt said. “He’s one of the most exciting players in the country and you look back at what they were able to do and establish with him last year — 6-1 as a starter and the only loss was when he went down with an injury in the game against Georgia.”

Klatt also credited Florida coach Billy Napier, whom he said “blocked out all the noise last year.”

“It was noisy around Napier’s situation, his job status,” Klatt said. “He blocked it out and that team, they got better, then they got a little bit better, then they got even more better. And then Lagway took them to another level. And the defense played really well down the stretch. They hold those last four opponents to 17 points or fewer in every game.”

Penn State is Klatt’s No. 1 team. Between No. 2 and No. 12, the spot right before UF, there are five SEC teams, starting with Texas in the second spot.
