Gators basketball NCAA Tournament projections
The red-hot Florida Gators basketball team seems like a near lock for the NCAA Tournament after a recent stretch that has seen them win eight of 10 games against SEC competition.
With four regular-season games left before the SEC Tournament begins, Florida is 19-8 overall and 9-5 in the league. Coach Todd Golden’s Gators currently are ranked No. 24 in the country in the AP Top 25.
“Not even a full month ago, (the Gators) were a bubble team,” ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi said Saturday during an interview on SEC Network. “Check back even two or three weeks ago (they’re) in the 10, 11-seed range. Now, 7 knocking on the door of a 6.”
Through Saturday’s games, the Gators are 31st in the NCAA Net Rankings and are 4-7 in Quad 1 games. Quad 1 wins are significant to the tournament selection committee.
Per Sportskeeda, this is what qualifies as a Quad 1 victory: “A win at home against teams ranked 1-30, win at a neutral venue against teams in the Top 50 and an away win against teams in the Top 75.”
