Gators basketball target CJ Ingram names top schools
CJ Ingram isn’t just a Florida Gators legacy. He’s an elite basketball recruit and major Florida target. The Gators not only have offered Ingram a scholarship, they’ve hosted him on an official visit.
Now, the talented 2025 has revealed his official leaders.
Per Joe Tipton of On3, the 6-foot-6 combo guard has a top 10 of Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Pitt, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt. After spending his first three high school years at Hawthorne (Fla.), he now plays for Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge.
Ingram is the No. 143 prospect nationally for On3, but he is expected to make a significant jump in the next 2025 rankings update. That’s due to his stellar play during the summer AUU season.
Ingram’s father, Cornelius Ingram, was an all-conference tight end for the Gators two decades ago. But often forgotten is that he also played some basketball at Florida.

CJ Ingram played quarterback — and well — at Hawthorne the past few seasons and Florida also was recruiting him as a receiver. But he now is likely to play basketball only in college at this time. He officially visited Todd Golden’s program in June. To date, that is the only official he has made.

At this time, Florida is viewed as a top contender and arguably the favorite. But according to On3’s Jamie Shaw, more basketball officials are possible. Shaw recently caught up with Ingram and Ingram talked about three other programs in his recruitment that could get officials.
Kansas: “Coach Self has obviously put guys in the league and he has the most wins. It’s a blue blood school so it really shows the work I’ve been putting in. It’s a really successful program and I’m just looking forward to going on a visit there.”
Georgia: “A lot of the time, the assistants want to talk, but I talk to coach Mike (White) the most. That pretty much shows how much a head coach really wants you. He’s telling me how I can fit in, play right away, even be a starter. Also, their player development with Anthony Edwards and how he had Tre Mann at Florida.”
Michigan: “Coach Dusty. Like I said, when the head coach talks to you, that shows how much they want you. I’ve been talking to coach Dusty and when he was at FAU, I used to watch their games. They had a Final Four run not too long ago so I was tuning in to watch their pace and how they play. His coaching staff went with him (to Michigan) so that shows his character and I’m looking forward to going over there (to visit) too.”
