Gators end Sooners' 20-game NCAA Tournament win streak to stay alive at WCWS
The Florida softball team is still alive at the Women’s College World Series.
With their backs against the wall, the Gators upended and upset No. 2 Oklahoma 9-3 on Monday in the semifinals to force another game against the Sooners on Tuesday. The winner of that game will face either Texas or Stanford in the championship series.
In winning Monday, Florida (54-14) snapped Oklahoma’s incredible 20-game winning streak in NCAA Tournament action, dating back to 2022. The Sooners have won each of the last three national titles and have seven championships overall as a program — third most in NCAA history.
Shortstop Skylar Wallace, Florida’s leadoff hitter, had two homers for the Gators. They hit four overall as team as Kendra Falby and Reagan Walsh contributed one each.
“I think we just did a really good job of making the pitcher work in the zone,” Wallace said on ESPN after the game. “Everyone here is really good. The pitchers are phenomenal. So we just have to be really tight in our zones and hit balls that we can hit. And just our mechanics and all of our work and preparation. And just get after a pitch.”

Remarkably, Florida scored all nine of its runs with two outs.
Florida ace Keagan Rothrock, pitched all seven innings and allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs to get the win. She’s now 33-8 on the season. The Sooners (56-7) were held scoreless into the fourth. By that time, the Gators already led 4-0.
The Sooners elected to not pitch ace Kelly Maxwell on Monday for the first time in the WCWS and Florida made them pay for that decision. The Gators finished with 10 hits and scored in each of the first five innings.
