Gators flip WR Muizz Tounkara from Arizona
The Florida Gators coveted a tall receiver in the 2025 recruiting class and now they have one on board. Muizz Tounkara, a 3-star recruit from League City (Tx.) Clear Springs, has flipped to Billy Napier’s program from Arizona. He’s the No. 127 receiver nationally for the On3 Industry Rankings.
Tounkara, listed at 6-foot-3.5, 195 pounds, had 30 receptions for 455 yards and five touchdowns this season per Maxpreps. He added 379 yards in returns. He becomes the Gators’ third receiver commit, joining 4-stars Vernell Brown III and Naeshaun Montgomery.
Tounkara officially visited the Gators for the Florida-Ole Miss game, which the Gators won 24-17 in a major upset. He arrived in Gainesville, Fla., the day before with his family.
“My quote would be electrifying,” he said of the game experience. “Absolutely the best college game day atmosphere and experience in the SEC.”

Overall, Tounkara called the visit “a 10 out of 10.”
“I loved it,” Tounkara said. “I met everybody. The players. The coaches. Everybody. All the recruiting people, too. I loved it. I loved every single part of the visit.”
What stood out?
“Really, just seeing the facility and meeting everybody,” Tounkara said. “I knew their facility was big. It was huge. Especially the game visit, too. The stadium was really, really loud. Meeting all the people. … just meeting everybody and getting the win. Just hanging with the players, too.”

Tounkara had been committed to Arizona since July 13. The Gators were searching for a big receiver in the class following the de-commitment of Joshua Moore earlier this fall.
Before his official visit, Tounkara talked up the Gators.
“Florida is up there really close,” he said. “We really have to see after this official visit. I haven’t visited there. After the visit, I’ll sit down with my parents and go over the pros and cons. I’ll talk with my family and coaches, talk about everything I’ve seen at the schools and just compare them.”
The chance to play with Florida quarterback DJ Lagway its appealing, Tounkara added.
“He’s most definitely one of the best QBs in the country right now,” Tounkara told Gators Online. “I watched him at Willis (Texas). Now as a true freshman, he’s making plays against Georgia. That’s crazy. It would be a blessing having a great QB like that. We’d have a lot of time together. He’s only a freshman.”
Tounkara is Florida’s third commitment of the day. He joins 4-star linebacker Ty Jackson, who flipped from the USC Trojans (story HERE), and offensive tackle Jahari Medlock, who flipped from Cincinnati. You can see the complete Florida Gators recruiting class HERE.
