Gators great Rex Grossman to be honorary Two-Bits for UF-LSU game
Legendary Florida Gators quarterback Rex Grossman is coming home.
The school announced Tuesday that Grossman will be the honorary Two-Bits for the Florida-LSU game on Saturday afternoon at 3:30 ET in The Swamp. While quarterbacking the orange and blue, he was the AP College Football Player of the Year in 2001 and finished second in the voting for the Heisman Trophy that same season. Recently, the Southeastern Conference announced Grossman has been selected to the 2024 SEC Legends class.
Rex Grossman was the SEC Player of the Year in 2001
Grossman, a native of Indiana, started his final 30 games at Florida and overall went 23-8 in a starting role. He was the starter in Steve Spurrier’s final season as Gators coach — and the starter in Ron Zook’s first season in Gainesville.
Per FloridaGators.com, Grossman is “the holder of 18 UF records — he completed 677 of 1,110 passes for 9,164 yards and 77 touchdowns in his career. Grossman had a school-record 17 career 300-plus yard passing games, and became the first Gator to throw for 300-plus yards in more than three consecutive games (first nine game of 2001) and he owns five of the top 16 single game passing yardage totals.”
