Gators offer 'means everything' to 2025 legacy target Ben Hanks Jr.
A familiar name resurfaced on the radar of Gators fans on Tuesday, as Billy Napier’s staff extended an offer to 2025 cornerback Ben Hanks Jr. He is the son of former Florida All-SEC linebacker, Ben Hanks, who racked up 300-plus career tackles and was part of three SEC-championship teams at UF.
Hailing from Miami Booker T. Washington, the 6-foot-1, 150-pound Hanks possesses additional offers from Georgia, Florida State, Appalachian State, Florida International and Florida Atlantic.
“Florida is a great school educational wise and sports wise,” Hanks told Gators Online. “It’s a good place to be at, especially when football games are going on. I’ve been up there a couple of times and my dad was a former player at Florida, so he showed me around there a couple of times too.”
One of those trips to Gainesville took place earlier this year, while Booker T. Washington took part in a team camp on Florida’s campus as well. Obviously, Hanks is still getting accustomed to those calling the shots for the orange and blue, but staff members such as Corey Raymond and Benedick Hyppolite are among those who passed along words of encouragement on Tuesday.
“I had a little talk with them today; it was good,” Hanks said. “They were just telling me how great of a player I was and to keep up the good work and keep getting better. They would like me to come up there and look at the campus and go to one of their games.”

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
Hanks would love to follow in the footsteps of his father
Although he is a Florida legacy, Hanks is not ready to dish out a front runner in his recruitment. He still has nearly three years of high school left as well; however, there is no doubt the Gators will be under heavy consideration until the very end.
“I don’t really have a dream offer, but I have a couple of schools I like. Two of them I have already, but this offer meant everything to me because my dad went there and my oldest sister graduated from there too, so this means everything. I would love to play for the Gators in the next couple of years!” Hanks said.
Through six games as a sophomore, Hanks has racked up a double-digit amount of tackles, seven pass deflections and one interception for the 5-1 Tornadoes.
