On Tuesday afternoon, the 2022 Midseason Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List was revealed to the public. The award honors a college football offensive or defensive lineman who best exemplifies the character and discipline of NFL Hall of Fame Coach Vince Lombardi.

Among those who earned a coveted spot on the list was O’Cyrus Torrence, who joined Florida over the offseason after transferring in from Louisiana.

According to Pro Football Focus, Torrence is highest-graded (89.6) offensive guard in the nation. He has started six games and earned AP Preseason All-American honors prior to this season. He is often featured in a number of 2023 NFL Mock Drafts as well.

It’s safe to say the native of Greensburg, Louisiana is living up to the national hype.

“First off, Coach O’Cyrus is a great player. I’m glad he’s on my team,” starting left tackle Richard Gouraige said of Torrence earlier this year. “He makes our job a lot easier. I feel bad for the defense. Having him on the team has been phenomenal. Great player, great character. No complaints about him.”

Torrence started three seasons for Billy Napier while representing the Ragin’ Cajuns and did not give up a single sack. He was a 2021 First Team All-Sun Belt selection, Shaun Alexander Freshman All-American and two-time Joe Moore Award Semifinalist.

Florida’s offensive line cashing in on NIL potential

Former three-star recruit O’Cyrus Torrence followed Billy Napier from Louisiana to Florida and was rated as a top-25 player in the portal cycle, boasting an On3 NIL Valuation of $530,000. The evaluation places him No. 81 in the NIL 100 and top 50 of On3’s college football NIL rankings.

The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation calculates an athlete’s NIL value using dynamic data points targeting three primary categories: performance, influence and exposure.

While the algorithm includes deal data, it does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals athletes have completed to date. The On3 NIL Valuation calculates the optimized NIL opportunity for athletes relative to the overall NIL market. It projects out to as long as 12 months into the future.
