Florida Gators pitcher Cade Fisher, who started nine games last season as a sophomore, has entered the NCAA transfer portal according to Pete Nakos of On3.

Fisher, a left-hander from Dalton, Ga., had 26 outings in 2024. He finished 4-3 and added a save with a 7.13 ERA.

That was a far cry from his performance one season earlier when he was a freshman All-American by Perfect Game and made the Freshman All-SEC Team. That season, Fisher appeared in 27 games, went 6-0, had two saves and a 3.10 ERA while striking out 48 batters in 49.1 innings.

As a freshman, Fisher held batters to a .262 average. That number rose to .282 in 2024. And after walking only 13 hitters a year ago, he gave out 29 free passes this spring. Fisher allowed two homers as a freshman and hit seven batters. As a sophomore those numbers jumped to six and 13.

Although Fisher struggled for much of the 2024 season, it should be noted he pitched his best down the stretch as the Gators made a run to the College World Series. He threw a scoreless 1.1 innings in a crucial series win at Georgia; he allowed only one earned run in 3.1 innings vs. Oklahoma State in the regionals on the road; and in Omaha, Fisher had 0.2 scoreless innings against Texas A&M and pitched 4 solid innings in a victory over N.C. State.

Per FloridaGators.com, these are some of Fisher’s high school accolades:

-Four-time letterwinner under head coach Todd Middleton at Northwest Whitfield.
-Competed as a two-sport athlete at Northwest Whitfield as a one-time letterwinner in football
-2022 Under Armour All-American.
-Holds Georgia state record for career ERA (0.71), while going 17-1 with 300 strikeouts in 157 1/3 innings (17.2 K/9).
-Two-time All-State recipient, including a first-team nod as a senior.
-Named All-Conference and Conference Pitcher of the Year in consecutive seasons as a junior and senior.
-Competed for Team USA 18U National Team in 2021, tossing eight scoreless innings and allowing four hits and two walks while striking out 10.
