Tramell Jones, a 4-star QB prospect and huge Florida Gators target from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin, is back on the market. He de-committed from Florida State on Thursday morning.

Florida had been trending heavily to flip Jones of late and now that seems even more likely. Per sources, Jones will be in Gainesville, Fla., this weekend with his teammate, 5-star Texas Longhorns receiver commit Jaime Ffrench. Ffrench is officially visiting the Gators this weekend. It is not yet known if a Jones visit also would be an official.

Jones, listed at 6-foot and 195 pounds, is the No. 21 QB in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings. He had been committed to the Seminoles since April of 2023.

Jones has played in only two games this season due to a leg injury. But for his four-year varsity career at Mandarin, he is 451-of-760 passing for 7,197 yards, 75 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.

Jones started eight games as a freshman. As one might expect, there were some early struggles. But improvement came and came. So did offers. Florida was one of the earliest to get involved. By Year 2, Jones seemed to have a good command of the Mandarin offense. Then last fall, he led the team to the state finals.

“He’s a point guard,” Mandarin coach Toby Bullock said. “I think that probably gets overused for a lot of people but in our system, he really is. We’re a heavy RPO team. So he has a lot of post-snap choices. And he communicates well with his coaches. He’s easy to talk to. These are all things he does well. And he can spin the ball with anybody.”
