Gators signee Alex Lloyd has 'got a little Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in his game'

ESPN college basketball analyst Seth Greenberg not only is high on what the Florida Gators return next season and landed in the transfer portal, he likes the two incoming freshmen—CJ Ingram and Alex Lloyd— a lot.
“The two freshmen guards they got, I love both of them,” Greenberg told Gators Online. “I actually think Ingram and Lloyd are interesting.”
CJ Ingram is a touted Gators legacy
Ingram, who is 6-foot-6, is the No. 23 overall recruit and No. 7 shooting guard nationally in the On3 Industry. He’s also the son of former UF football star Cornelius Ingram. The younger Ingram could see time at both shooting guard and small-forward for the Gators. He averaged 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game during his senior season at Montverde Academy (Fla.), filling roles across three positions.
“I love Ingram,” Greenberg said. “Big, physical, tough, upside is ridiculous.”
Alex Lloyd also was a top-50 national recruit
Like Ingram, Lloyd, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound standout, also will bring an impressive hoops résumé with him to Gainesville. Lloyd, who competed in the prestigious 2025 Jordan Brand Classic, is the No. 40 recruit in the country in the On3 Industry Rankings. As a senior, he averaged 27.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He’ll probably be a point/off combo for UF, the 2025 national champs.

“Lloyd’s got a great pace to his game,” Greenberg said. “He’s got middle game, he can shoot it, he can play on and off the ball. The more film I started watching on Lloyd—he’s not this guy right now—but he’s got a little Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in his game. I mean, he’s got a little shake to his game.”
Gilgeous-Alexander, a combo guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, was this season’s Most Valuable Player and is a bona-fide superstar. He played at Kentucky.
As high as Greenberg is on Ingram and Lloyd, he thinks the Gators won’t have to “rely on those guys as much” as true freshmen due to the transfer pickups of guards Boogie Fland (Arkansas) and Xaivian Lee (Princeton), whom he also praised. Nonetheless, the former college coach seemed excited about their respective futures.
