GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators are losing another offensive player to the transfer portal. Redshirt freshman Nick Elksnis announced his intention to leave Florida on Tuesday. He cannot enter the transfer portal officially until December 5.

“Wearing the Orange and Blue has been a childhood dream come true. Studying and growing as an individual at the University of Florida has been an honor, and I am forever grateful for the foundation this team gave me in my college football career,” He said on Twitter.

“This past year has presented personal challenges and setbacks. After much prayer, consideration, and unwavering support from my family, I feel it is in my best interest to pursue a fresh start. Therefore I will be entering the transfer portal on December 5th.

As a freshman in 2021, Elksnis played in four games while earning a redshirt. This spring an injury set him back as Billy Napier and a new coaching staff were installing the offense. Elksnis was able to return for the season, playing mostly on special teams in the first five games.
