Gators WR Ricky Pearsall lands on Biletnikoff Award Watch List
The Gators’ leading pass catcher for the 2023 season has earned more national recognition.
On Wednesday, Florida standout wide receiver Ricky Pearsall earned a spot on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. The news was announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season’s outstanding Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football’s outstanding receiver, not merely college football’s outstanding wide receiver.
Through seven games for the 5-2 Gators, Pearsall has reeled in 44 receptions for 619 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 14.1 yards per catch. He is responsible for a rushing touchdown as well.

Pearsall is fresh off arguably his best performance as a Gator
Against South Carolina, Pearsall played a major role in UF’s much-needed road victory, hauling in 10 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown.
All in all, Pearsall has made Graham Mertz’s transition to Gainesville a whole lot smoother, having recorded at least three receptions in every game this season. He is also on pace to become the first 1,000-yard Florida wide receiver since Taylor Jacobs in 2002.
“I just put in a lot of work” Pearsall said after the South Carolina game. “I just want to thank God. Without him, I wouldn’t even be here. I first want to give all praise to him and glory to him. And again, with this guy (Mertz) right here, the summer, even just hanging out off the field and developing that relationship and just trusting in the coaches in the position they put me in, and you just going out there and executing and playing with confidence; that’s about it.”
Semifinalists for the award will be revealed on Nov. 20, followed by the finalists on Nov. 28.
The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be made aware of the news on Dec. 7.
