SEC Media Days is well underway in Nashville, Tennessee. The Florida Gators and head coach Billy Napier will have their day in the spotlight on Wednesday afternoon.

The second-year head coach elected to bring receiver Ricky Pearsall, center Kingsley Eguakun, and cornerback Jason Marshall. The group will load into a jet in Gainesville and make their way to the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Nashville. Their day is scheduled down to the minute as they’re shuffled from room to room to meet with more than 2,000 credentialed members of the media. It’s an exhilarating but repetitive day for the group.

Storylines to watch

On his first trip to SEC Media Days, Napier brought quarterback Anthony Richardson. There won’t be a quarterback in tow this year, which will undoubtedly be one of the biggest questions that Napier gets this week.

Napier will also likely be asked about his new defensive coordinator, Austin Armstrong. Armstrong will be the youngest defensive coordinator in the Power 5 next season. How will he shape and change a Gators defense that struggled in 2022?

Three Gators making the trip

Pearsall led the team last season with 661 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 33 catches after transferring for Arizona State. Eguakun has made 26 consecutive starts as Florida’s center.

Pearsall and Eguakun are the only full-time starters back at their respective positions. Pearsall graded out as the No. 3 returning SEC receiver by PFF, while the Reese’s Senior Bowl director is high on the potential of Eguakun.

Marshall started all 13 games in 2022 and allowed zero TDs in 336 coverage snaps with eight pass breakups and an interception. He’s one of two returning starters in UF’s secondary.
