Massive recruiting news for the 2025 cycle just surfaced, as 5-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson committed to Billy Napier and the Florida Gators, providing DJ Lagway with an elite pass catcher with size.

This comes after Oregon released the Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Technical star from his financial aid agreement on Thursday evening and then took an official visit this weekend.

Wilson, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, is the No. 19 prospect overall and the No. 2 wide receiver nationally. He is also the No. 3-ranked senior in the state of Florida.

Wilson had been committed to the Ducks for roughly two years, but as Florida Gators fans know, there was plenty of suspense during the final hours leading into the Early Signing Period; in fact, many expected Florida to win out on Dec. 4. It was that close, while Miami was another school in the picture.

Even after inking with the Ducks though, a source says the Gators remained on Wilson’s mind along with the opportunity to stay closer to family, and of course, playing with DJ Lagway. He also has the opportunity to make an instant impact in a Gators offense that needs a bigger target and is losing its top two options in Elijhah Badger and Chimere Dike.

The Florida Gators have plenty of help on the way for DJ Lagway

Wilson, who joins a wide receiver class featuring Vernell Brown III, Naeshaun Montgomery and Muizz Tounkara, was most recently in Gainesville for UF’s ranked victory over LSU. It was during that visit when the wheels were put into motion and he was reminded of how much of a priority he is for them.

During the 2024 season, the 6-foot-3, 193-pound Wilson finished with 41 receptions for 677 yards and nine touchdowns.. He averaged 16.5 yards per catch.

“We had a great conversation,” Wilson said of meeting with Billy Napier after the unofficial visit. “It was a 20-minute conversation we had. He was just telling me how bad he needs me. Also, how I’d be a good fit for Florida, how I’d fit in the passing game, and how I’m a good run-blocking receiver, big, physical, electric.”
