Jalen Kitna dismissed from Florida Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Redshirt freshman Jalen Kitna has been dismissed from the Florida Gators football team.
Kitna was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of possession of child pornography and child exploitation material. He was officially charged on five separate counts. Those charges included two counts of distribution of child exploitation material, and three counts of possession of child pornography. Florida released a statement at that time.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the news involving Jalen Kitna. These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior. Jalen has been suspended indefinitely from the football program.”
An investigation looking into Kitna began back in June. An IP address and a phone number were keys to determining his involvement. He was then arrested on Wednesday on the charges and, at that point, Florida had only announced an indefinite suspension in their statement.
The freshman quarterback appeared in three games for Florida this season. He completed 10 of 14 passes for 181 yards overall and a touchdown. With that said, Kitna’s career on the field is by all accounts over now as he prepares to move forward within this case.

Kitna was released into the custody of his parents on Wednesday after receiving an $80,000 bond. Under the conditions of his release, he is not allowed to be in the presence of a minor unattended or have access to the internet until his trial.
Further details were released by the GPD, including that the images Kitna possessed included at least one of a “prepubescent girl having intercourse with an adult male” and two others of two such girls in a shower, according to the Associated Press.
Kitna returned by to his parent’s home on Friday, where he will remain until his trial, which does not have a set date.
