Johni Broome sets decision date, down to two finalists
Johni Broome will announce his decision Saturday at 3 p.m., the Morehead State transfer told On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday afternoon.
Auburn and Florida are the two finalists for the 6-foot-10 power forward, who is from Plant City, Fla. and attended Tampa Catholic High School.
His decision pits first-year Gators coach Todd Golden against his former boss, Bruce Pearl. Golden was an assistant coach for Pearl at Auburn from 2014-16.
Both programs hosted him for official visits this month. Broome, who has three years of eligibility remaining, took a trip to the Plains in mid-April and visited Florida last weekend.

Johni Broome starred for Eagles
Ranked the No. 1 center transfer by On3’s Jamie Shaw, Johni Broome averaged 16.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks at Morehead State last season. He was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and led the conference in rebounds and blocked shots.
After Broome entered the transfer portal on April 4, he received interest from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, Houston and Memphis, among others. He trimmed his list down to those eight schools on April 12.
