Joshua Moore, elite WR, commits to Florida Gators over FSU, Miami
PEMBROKE PINES, FLORIDA — The Florida Gators on Wednesday made their presence felt in south Florida when 4-star receiver Joshua Moore of West Broward committed to them over Florida State and Miami.
Moore is an elite talent with an NFL frame.
He’s listed at 6-foot-3.5, 205 pounds and is the No. 9 receiver in the country for On3. He recorded 50 catches for 835 yards and nine touchdowns last season.
Why Florida?
“With Florida, I feel like it feels more homey,” Moore said. “Not too far away from home but I’m far away enough. I feel like I can get developed there. I could become a better man — and a better player on the field also.”
Moore, the No. 198 recruit nationally for the On3 Industry Rankings, is commitment No. 7 for the Gators in the 2025 class — and the third to pledge in June.
Joshua Moore made multiple trips to Gainesville this month
Moore visited Florida twice this month. His first trip there in June was for his official visit. And afterward, it was clear the Gators had become a top contender when he spoke about Florida’s touted freshman quarterback, DJ Lagway.
“They got a general at quarterback. Everybody else ain’t got a quarterback,” Moore said, before adding this: “They got great academics. They’re building something.” Of Lagway, Moore added, “Great guy. Cool guy. Awesome. We talked about football. Awesome.”
Moore followed up that visit with officials to Miami and FSU — and each of those programs seemed to get positive vibes. Moore then showed up in Gainesville again last Friday for a two-day unofficial visit.

While there, Moore hoped to learn more about the program. A lot of his time was spent finding out how well he’d fit into the Florida offense.
“Just to get some questions answered and everything by Napier and (Billy) Gonzales,” Moore said. “I wanted Coach Gonzales to like draw up his favorite concept and coach me. … He did a good job. … They say I’m going to be everywhere really. Not really stay on this side all game. They’re going to put me everywhere. Basically, make plays. They don’t have a big receiver like me so I’m coming in and making an impact.”
Additionally, Moore said he felt better about Napier’s job security after talking to the coach.
“I don’t know if I can say exactly what he said, but he’s really sure (his job is safe),” Moore said.
