JUCO lineman Tarvorise Brown commits to Florida Gators; joins team for 2024
Defensive lineman Tarvorise Brown, a Florida native from Hutchinson Community College (Kan.), has committed to the Florida Gators. Brown, listed at 6-foot-8 and 290 pounds, redshirted at Hutchinson last season.
He has reclassified and enrolled at Florida for the fall semester as a late 2024 addition — and begins his career as a preferred walk-on. Brown can do that because he was a full academic qualifier out of high school. Brown is a redshirt freshman. The official Gators football account posted a photo on X Thursday of him practicing.
He visited the Gators last Saturday and that’s when they offered. Brown initially intended to wait until later in the year to pick his college, but decided to go ahead and get it done now. Florida’s recruitment of him seemed to catch Brown by surprise.
“It’s a big step man,” Brown said Saturday. “I never thought I would get offered by an SEC school. It’s a blessing. I’ve never been in Gainesville myself, but to experience The Swamp, and go around campus — I never thought it would be this big. It was a good experience.”

Brown named the Gators his leader after his Saturday visit to Gainesville.
“This is the top school right here,” Brown said of Florida. “I never thought it would be a moment like this where I get offered by a team that I’ve seen on television. It’s just a blessing to come here.”
The Gators first made contact with Brown, who attended high school on the east coast of Florida, last week. After that, they moved fast.
“(Defensive line coach Gerald Chatman) said, Tell me your story about how I’m in the position I’m in now at JUCO,” Brown said. “He messed with the story I gave him, and he said we need to get you on a visit. I didn’t think he was serious, and then I think they called me wanting my information. I gave it to him, and then the next day I’m on a plane.”
