For Jordan Herman, it did not take long for him to realize that the University of Florida was the no-brainer choice.

The Gators delivered an offer at the start of the month, and then 48 hours later, the 6-foot-8, 370-pound offensive lineman pulled himself off the market without ever visiting campus. He is also a member of the 2022 class, so with limited opportunities on the table and time not necessarily on his side, Herman made the call for UF.

Herman, who recently wrapped up his time at Hutchinson Community College, earned additional offers from the likes of Arkansas State, Houston and Incarnate Word.

“They offered me at the beginning of May. I committed a few days later after I thought about all my options and talked with my family and coaches from junior college,” Herman told Gators Online.

“They like me at tackle for the most part. The things they said they like about my game are my athleticism, hand placement, base and things of that nature. Also, my aggressiveness on the field.”

Herman received the red-carpet treatment in Gainesville

Although he is not far off from enrolling, Herman chose to make use of the official visit available to him.

The South Carolina native was UF’s lone official visitor this past weekend and says he was all smiles throughout his multi-day stay. He is certainly eager to kick off his career with the orange and blue; however, he also relished his final experience of the recruiting process.

“My overall experience on my visit was amazing. It felt like I was at home as soon as I stepped foot on campus,” Herman said. “The things that impressed me the most were things like the academic center, and of course the field was beautiful.

“I’m super excited to be a part of Gator Nation. The support from the coaching staff and academic staff definitely reassured me that I made the right choice even though I had no doubt in mind.”

From getting a taste of the campus atmosphere to familiarizing himself with future positional coaches, Herman says there was not much he did not do during his time at the Swamp. Like most offensive linemen, the three-star prospect did not hold back in the dining room either.

“I spent the most time with the o-line coaches: coach Stapleton and coach Sale. I also spent a good bit of time with coach Napier,” Herman said.

“We went axe throwing and also ate at some good restaurants. I toured the campus, city of Gainesville and loved every second of it. I had good talks with all the coaches and staff.”

What is next for the JUCO product?

Now home with his loved ones, Herman is preparing for enrollment at the University of Florida. He says he has four years to play out three seasons. That means he has three years of eligibility along with a redshirt if needed.

It has certainly been an eventful, yet life-changing, month of May, but the celebrating is over for the offensive lineman.

Herman is ready to lace up the cleats and take advantage of his time under the brightest lights of the SEC.

“I’ve signed and I move in this upcoming weekend,” Herman said.
