Positive recruiting news continues to pour in for the Gators, as Billy Napier’s program landed yet another commitment on Monday morning.

Michai Boireau, who checks in along the defensive line at roughly 6-foot-5, 370 pounds, just pulled himself off the market in favor of Florida. Georgia was other finalist for the Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside defender.

In fact, the Dawgs just received an official visit over the weekend; however, the Gators entered the weekend as the heavy favorite and managed to hang on despite a significant, late push from the back-to-back national champions.

Boireau first journeyed down to Gainesville in the spring and then returned on June 9-11 for his official visit. It was that multi-day visit that catapulted the Gators into the driver’s seat, leading to today’s verbal pledge.

Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan and Auburn are some schools that offered as well.

“I have been to Georgia; I haven’t been to Michigan but talked on the phone with them; Ole Miss, I’ve talked on the phone with them; I just feel like Florida is the realest I’ve talked to. It’s a pretty big lead,” Boireau recently told Gators Online.

“I came here and what I thought I was going to see ended up being way better. We had a great experience and everyone felt real and genuine. I just had a great time.”

The Gators have big plans for Michai Boireau

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Boireau is the 88th-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 class. He is also the 936th-ranked prospect regardless of position.

However, don’t be surprised if the Peach State native eventually makes a splash in the rankings. He is considered one of the fast risers in the Southeast and was definitely wanted by the Bulldogs here down the stretch. They have been involved in Boireau’s recruitment for quite some time.

Regardless of the ranking though, defensive line coach Sean Spencer is eager to work with the massive defender. That relationship is strengthening each week and one of the primary reasons why UF ultimately received the nod.

“(His energy) it’s high,” said Boireau. “You know coach Spencer; coach Spencer is coach Spencer. He is always high energy and is always great. He feels like a father figure to me.”

With the addition of Boireau, the Gators now hold commitments from 14 prospects in the 2024 class. It’s also the third defensive lineman to join the class, as Amaris Williams and Nasir Johnson announced for the Gators on Saturday while in town for their official visits.

According to the 2024 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings, Florida checks in with the No. 3-ranked recruiting class.
