Another four-star prospect has committed to the University of Florida while in attendance for their official visit.

Amaris Williams, a four-star defensive lineman from Clinton (N.C.) High, just announced his commitment to the Gators. Four-star tight end Amir Jackson committed today as well.

In addition to the Gators, the 6-foot-2.5, 255-pound Williams possesses offers from USC, Oklahoma, Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri, Virginia Tech, North Carolina and N.C. State among others.

“What really stood out about Florida was the coaches and the time they put into me,” Williams told On3’s Hayes Fawcett about his commitment. “They had a game plan set for me and treated me as a priority. Being a top player on their board added to it. Another thing that stood out was the people and the environment. I loved everybody as a person and as a community.

“My relationship with the coaching staff is spectacular! I’m really close with coach Mike Peterson, coach Austin Armstrong, and coach Jay Bateman. Their plan for me is EDGE, and d-end type deal. Also I’m a versatile player overall so they see me playing everywhere on the defensive line.”

When speaking with GO earlier this year, Williams said the Gators were “pretty high” on his list at that time as well.

“I actually really like Florida,” Williams previously told GO. “I’ve been talking to (inside linebackers) coach (Jay) Bateman some about life, football and where I would play if I was to come to Florida. I just want to go somewhere where I know I would play and also have fun.

“Having a great time there is my No. 1 thing. I’m hoping Florida can develop me in many ways and not in just football because football isn’t just my life.”

During the 2022 season, Williams racked up 65 tackles, 44 tackles for loss, 18 sacks and a forced fumble for the 11-2 Dark Horses.
