Kickoff time set for Florida Gators-South Carolina Gamecocks game
The starting time and television network for the Florida Gators’ game Oct. 14 at South Carolina are set.
Kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET, it was announced Monday. The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network.
Florida currently is 3-2 overall, 1-1 in the SEC. The Gamecocks are 2-3, 1-2.
The Gators lead the overall series 30-10-3 and have won four of the last five vs. South Carolina, including last season’s game in Gainesville at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Florida won that one, 38-6.
Florida is 17-2 at home all time vs. the Gamecocks but 12-8-1 in Columbia, S.C. The upcoming matchup at Williams-Brice Stadium figures to be a hugely important game for coach Billy Napier and the Gators.
This will be Florida’s third road game of the season. The Gators were badly outplayed in each of the previous two — a 24-11 loss at No. 14 Utah and again this past weekend in a 33-14 setback at Kentucky.
Florida will have an open week after playing the Gamecocks before facing Georgia in Jacksonville, Fla., on Oct. 28.

The Gators hope to regain some momentum when they play host to Vanderbilt (2-4, 0-2) this coming Saturday. The Commodores beat Florida last season in Nashville, Tenn.
“We know what winning football looks like,” Napier said Monday. “Certainly Saturday (at Kentucky) was not that, wasn’t it. So there’s no sugarcoating this. There’s no excuse. All we can do is evaluate it for what it is and do better the next time. I’m not up here to make any excuses or talk about it. There’s nobody that wants to have more success than this group of players, and ultimately I feel responsibility to do a better job for them. It’s that simple.”
Florida and South Carolina first met back in 1911 and played 11 times prior to 1940. From 1940 to 1991, they played each other just once, during Steve Spurrier’s sophomore season in 1964.
South Carolina joined the Southeastern Conference in 1992 and has played the Gators every season since.
