Florida wing guard Kowacie Reeves was one of the standouts in the Orange & Blue scrimmage Tuesday, and not just because of his play.

Reeves has ditched his signature dreads for a different hairstyle this season. He’s now sporting a bleach blonde buzz cut with red hearts.

He surprised the team with his new hairdo last week and added the hearts before the scrimmage.

“As far as the hair goes, he’s a very unique and talented young man,” UF coach Todd Golden said of Reeves. “He surprised us with the cut last Thursday. That was a surprise. I didn’t anticipate the hearts coming, but it’s his canvas.

“If he wants to express himself that way, it’s all good with me. Just as long as he plays hard.”

Reeves is channeling his inner Dennis Rodman not only with his hair, but his effort on the glass. Golden credited him for improving as a rebounder this offseason.

He expects Reeves, who averaged 5.5 points with 32 made 3-pointers as a freshman, to elevate his game in his second year with the Gators.

“He’s had a really good fall. Played really well a couple weeks ago in the scrimmage. He’s still a young player but he’s making strides,” Golden said of Reeves. “He’s doing a much better job defensive rebounding, which is an area he’s really improving. Just getting more comfortable and confident on the defensive end. But he’s a guy that will make a jump as a sophomore, for sure.”
