Graduate transfer guard Kyle Lofton decides to sign with Gators
Florida has signed graduate transfer guard Kyle Lofton from St. Bonaventure, first-year coach Todd Golden announced on Friday.
Lofton picked the Gators over Rutgers and officially visited both schools, taking his trip to UF last Thursday.
Lofton earned All-Atlantic 10 honors each of the past three seasons, starting all 116 appearances throughout his four years with 1,613 points and 604 assists. The 6-foot-3 point guard has posted a .421 field goal percentage and shoots at an .820 clip from the free throw line.
“We are excited to bring Kyle into our program here at Florida,” Golden said. “Kyle has experienced a lot of success both from a team and individual standpoint during his time at St. Bonaventure. He’s a proven winner and leader. He makes others around him better and cares only about one thing: winning.”

A native of Hillsdale, N.J., Lofton helped St. Bonaventure to an NCAA Tournament bid in 2021, leading the Bonnies with 23 points in the Atlantic 10 championship game vs. VCU. He has 16 career 20-point games, including a career-high 32 points on two occasions (2/17/19 vs. George Mason, 12/30/19 at Buffalo).
Lofton averaged 12.8 points and 5.9 assists last season and played 38.5 minutes per game, despite missing most of December with a high left ankle sprain. He averaged a nation’s-best 38.1 minutes per game over the past four seasons.
Lofton comes to Florida as a grad transfer with one season of eligibility remaining due to the COVID year (2020-21). He is the 27th-rated player to enter the transfer portal during this cycle, according to On3’s portal rankings.
With the addition of Lofton, Golden has now landed four transfers along with Alex Fudge (LSU), Trey Bonham (VMI) and Will Richard (Belmont). UF is also targeting former Mississippi State commit Riley Kugel, who visited on April 15.
