One year after a Heisman candidate-worthy season at Florida, Kyle Pitts is now an NFL Pro Bowler. Pitts represented the NFC alongside George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers.

In his final season at Florida, Pitts put up incredible numbers, turning into an unstoppable single coverage threat, especially in the red zone. In his last college season, Pitts posted 770 yards on 43 receptions and added 12 touchdowns, all in only eight games.

Much of his success at the college level translated to the league after being the top tight end at the college ranks in 2020. The UF tight end took home the John Mackey Award for the best college tight end in 2020 as well.

Pitts heads to the League

Come NFL draft season, Pitts was drafted by the Falcons with the fourth-overall pick. On April 29th, the Pennsylvania native made history as the highest-drafted tight end at pick #4.

Through week 15, Pitts accumulated 847 yards on 58 catches in his rookie season. Pitts frequently finds double or triple coverage in the red zone, causing the 6-foot-6, 246-pounder to only have one touchdown on the year.

In week five and week seven, the former Gator already has two 100+ yard games in the NFL, coming against the Jets and the Dolphins. Against New York, the matchup nightmare found 119 yards on nine catches. The Falcons’ next game was even better, as Pitts produced 163 yards on only seven receptions.

In his most recent NFL game, the tight end posted four catches for 77 yards against the 49ers.

Despite Pitts’ effort throughout the season, the Atlanta Falcons remain 6-8. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints are above the Falcons in the NFC South.

“The unicorn” scored his first career touchdown on October 10th against the New York Jets.

Despite only being 21 years of age, Pitts is making a name for himself in his rookie season in the NFL.
