Live Blog: Florida Gators 73, Tennessee Volunteers 43
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The No. 8 Florida Gators bounced back from their first loss of the season with one of the biggest wins in school history on Tuesday.
UF (13-1, 1-1 SEC) routed top-ranked Tennessee with a 73-43 win, giving the program its first-ever win against the AP No. 1 team in the regular season.
Below are live updates from Florida’s conference opener against the Volunteers (14-1, 1-1 SEC).

FINAL: FLORIDA 73, TENNESSEE 43
A dominant defensive performance from the Gators, who held the Vols to 21% shooting (4-29 from 3). Alijah Martin led the team with 18 points, Denzel Aberdeen scored a season-high 16 and Alex Condon had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Florida shot 40% from the floor (14-37), 17% from 3-point range (2-12) and 76% from the line (13-17). Tennessee made just 12 shots out of 56 attempts and was 60% from the line (15-25).
UF won the rebounding battle 55-38, led by Rueben Chinyelu with 15 boards, and outscored the Vols 22-3 in fastbreak points.

The Vols just made only their second 3-pointer of the game (2-for-25), but they’re on a 7-0 run over the last two minutes. Too little too late, though.

The Vols have missed their last seven shots (1 of 11) and haven’t scored any field goals in 5:24. Three Gators in double figures: Alijah Martin, Alex Condon and Denzel Aberdeen.

Alijah Martin is now up to team-high 13 points and the Vols are 1-for-24 from 3. What a response by the Gators with their 3-point defense after the Kentucky loss.

The Gators are on a 9-0 run to open the second half and the Vols haven’t scored in 2:47, missing their last five shots.
HALF: FLORIDA 34, TENNESSEE 15
The Vols missed their last nine shots (1 of 11) and didn’t score any field goals in the final 6:13. After giving up 14 3-pointers at Kentucky, UF has held Tennessee to 0-14 from downtown so far.
Florida shot 38% from the floor (14-37), 17% from 3-point range (2-12) and 80% from the line (4-5). Tennessee shot 14% from the floor overall (4-29) and 88% from the line (7-8).

UF is winning the rebounding battle 30-19 and outscored the Vols 12-0 in fastbreak points in the first half.

Florida guard Denzel Aberdeen leads the team with 8 points off the bench. He and Will Richard knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to push Florida’s lead back to double digits.
