Blue outlasts Orange, 38-32, in Florida Gators spring game

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA — As far as spring contests go, Saturday’s Orange & Blue wasn’t half bad. Several Florida Gators shined, including the following:

—Running back Ja’Kobi Jackson had 198 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.

—Freshman receiver Dallas Wilson set an Orange & Blue Game record with 10 catches. His 195 receiving yards tied the school spring game record.

—Gators kicker Trey Smack made a 56-yard field goal to set a game record.

Meanwhile, the Florida quarterbacks had their moments. Returning starter DJ Lagway, who has an injury, played but did not throw. But Harrison Bailey and Aidan Warner combined to pass for five touchdowns. Bailey was 29 of 43 for 363 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. Warner was 10 of 23 for 157 yards, 2 touchdowns.

On defense, freshman linebacker Ty Jackson led all players with 11 tackles. He added a sack and two tackles for loss.

—BLUE: Running Jadan Baugh caught a swing pass from Aidan Warner, and Baugh juked a couple guys then cut up field. Gain of 48 yards. What a play.

—ORANGE: Harrison Bailey just threw his best pass of the game thus far, a perfectly thrown ball down the right sideline to Dallas Wilson that picked up 31 yards.

—BLUE: QB Aidan Warner just completed a nice 29-yard pass down the right sideline to J. Michael Sturdivant, a UCLA receiver transfer whom big things are expected.
—BLUE: DJ Lagway was the starting QB for the Blue. But he hasn’t thrown this spring, so he handed off to running back Ja’Kobi Jackson on the first play. He gained 7.
—The Orange team has been spotted a 3-0 lead for winning a team competition held before Saturday.
