Anthony Richardson steals the show at the 2023 NFL Combine
Anthony Richardson has been the talk of the NFL Scouting Combine, and on Saturday he showed it was for good reason. The former Florida Gators quarterback competed in every drill other than the bench press.
It was a bold move but paid off for Richardson, who set several combine records for a QB and cemented himself as a top-10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
“I train for everything so I’m trying to showcase what I’m able to do. I see myself, you know, I want to be a legend. I want to be like Patrick Mahomes. I want to be like Tom Brady. I want to be one of the greats,” Richardson said this week in Indy. “I will be one of the greats because I’m willing to work that hard and get to that point. And so, to answer that question, I feel like I’m going to be one of the greats in the next few years.”
Gators Online followed Richardson all day to keep an up-to-the-minute account of how the former Florida quarterback performed in Indianapolis.

Media Day transcript highlights
QB you looked up to?
“Growing up it was always Cam Newton for me. But then when I got to high school, just seeing how dynamic Lamar was. I tried to implement both of those guys in my life. I started calling myself Cam Jackson in 11th grade, just trying to make big plays. Just Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson.”
QB who resembles our style?
“You know, growing up, it was always Cam Newton for me. So a lot of people say Cam and I believe it is Cam.”
When people say you have a high ceiling?
“I guess it’s a good thing. You know, I don’t think about it much. You know, I just try to be the best version of myself that I can be. And I feel like I can continue to grow and I will continue to grow.”
