OMAHA, Neb. — The Florida Baseball team lost to The Gators fell to LSU 18-4 in the third game of the College World Series, finishing runner up to their SEC rival.

Florida’s run in 2023 was historic. The Gators won the SEC championship and 54 games. They just fell one game short of winning it all. The loss to LSU makes Florida 1-3 in College World Series finals and drops them to 25-26 all-time in Omaha.

Florida sent Jac Caglianone to the mound to start the game. The left-hander tossed a scoreless first inning and Wyatt Langford gave UF a 2-0 lead with a home run in the bottom of the frame. Caglianone lost the strikezone in the second inning, allowing six runs to score, all earned. The six played would be more than enough as LSU starter Thatcher Hurd hurled five straight scoreless innings after surrendering two in the first.

The Tiger offense jumped all over Florida’s pitching staff, cracking 24 hits — breaking the record set by Florida a day prior.
