Massive DL Stephon Shivers commits to Florida
Another 2025 prospect has announced a commitment to the Florida Gators, this time being Tennessee-based defensive lineman Stephon Shivers.
The Humboldt (Tenn.) Brentwood Academy standout officially visited the Gators for the LSU game and saw enough to pull himself off the market. Florida led heading into the visit as well, so the few days he spent on campus was the icing on the cake.
Joining 4-star quarterback Tramell Jones, Shivers is the second official visitor from this past weekend to commit to the Florida Gators.
Vanderbilt, USC and Oregon were additional top schools for the former Georgia commit.
“It was a great atmosphere,” Shivers told Gators Online after his visit. “I ain’t never see nothing like the Swamp. Their defensive line, they got after it, and took what they wanted. That’s what I want to be a part of. People that want to work, people that want to go eat and dominate every play.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, the 6-foot-4.5, 385-pound senior is the No. 40 defensive lineman and No. 445 prospect overall.
The Gators are recruiting Shivers to play nose and the 3-technique defensive line positions.
The message in recent weeks from Florida defensive line coach Gerald Chatman?
“He told me I have a great chance,” Stephon Shivers said. “I just gotta come in and work every day.”
With Shivers now on board, the Gators hold commitments from 14 seniors. Their 2025 recruiting class ranks 27th nationally with On3.
Three defensive lineman are committed as well. Those other prospects are Jalen Wiggins and Jeramiah McCloud, but Wiggins is a versatile defender who is expected to play EDGE in Gainesville.
