Michigan punter Tommy Doman will be a Florida Gator
The Florida Gators have moved fast to find a replacement for senior punter Jeremy Crawshaw. They quickly identified their top target in the transfer portal and arranged for him to officially visit this week.
Now, he’s on board with UF.
Michigan transfer Tommy Doman has committed to Florida and signed with the Gators. Doman, who graduates from Michigan next week, is Florida’s first transfer addition this cycle. And he’s an important one. Crawshaw was one of the best punters in recent program history. He had 56 punts in 2024 for 2,573 net yards (45.94). Overall, the Gators are eighth in net punting.
Florida signed 3-star punter Hayden Craig on Dec. 4 but also wanted someone who was Day-1 ready. Enter Doman.
Doman, who visited the Gators on Wednesday and Thursday, appeared in 31 games at Michigan, serving as the starting punter, kickoff specialist and holder each of the last two seasons. He punted 59 times in 2024, averaging 42.6 yards per attempt. He has a career punt average of 43.4 yards.
Doman is a native of West Bloomfield, Mich. and was a 3-star prospect in the 2021 class. He was the No. 1449 recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking after playing for Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (Mich.) High School.

The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
The database is a normal database, sortable by a variety of topics, including (of course) sport and name. A player’s individual entry includes basic details such as contact info, whether the player was on scholarship and whether the player is transferring as a graduate student.
A player can ask that a “do not contact” tag be placed on the report. In those instances, the players don’t want to be contacted by schools unless they’ve initiated the communication.
The window for FBS players to enter the portal opens Dec. 9 and closes on Dec. 28.
