Gervon Dexter is one of four current Gators who have declared for the 2023 NFL Draft, but he’s the first to commit to the bowl game.
The third-year defensive tackle revealed Tuesday on Twitter that he will be suiting up for the Gators in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17.
“Let’s go finish it out in Vegas coach,” Dexter wrote in response to a tweet from Florida co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Sean Spencer, who congratulated him on his draft declaration.
Dexter then confirmed that he’s playing in the game in an exchange with a fan. He announced his intentions to turn pro on Monday, but his status for the Las Vegas Bowl was not mentioned.
Dexter has appeared in all 37 games since 2020, recording 50 tackles in each of the last two years. He heads into his final collegiate contest with 119 career tackles and two interceptions with 23 total starts.
