Picayune (Miss.) Memorial 4-star defensive lineman Nolan Wilson has named his top five schools, and the Florida Gators are on the list. Joining them are Alabama, Auburn, Miami and Ole Miss.

Wilson, 6-foot-4, 250 pounds, is one of the top players in the country as an Under Armour All-American. On3 ranks him as the No. 3 defensive lineman and No. 45 overall prospect in the 2026 class.

So far, Wilson has visited Florida twice and both of those trips were this year. When we last spoke to him, the Gators weren’t as high on his list, but things might be changing. At that time, he was talking to Florida coaches about every two to three weeks, so communication may be on the upswing.

When speaking with On3’s Steve Wiltfong, Wilson explained why each school made the cut. As for the Florida Gators, it’s a variety of things that has them standing out.

“(Outside linebackers) coach Mike Peterson, the program, the facilities, the environment, the city, the culture, the academic program, and I could go on and on,” Wilson said of the Gators.

An official visit with the Gators is not scheduled, but Wilson says he’s working on it. He already has visits locked in with his other four finalists. He will be at Alabama the weekend of May 30, Auburn on June 6, Ole Miss on June 13, and Miami on June 20.

Wilson said his decision came down to the relationships he has with coaches, how much he likes each school, and how they plan to use and develop him as a player. Florida is doing its best to stay in the race for one of the nation’s top defensive linemen, but we believe there is significant ground to make up.

Gators Online’s Take

I’m actually surprised the Gators made Wilson’s top five, as they were mentioned as a top-10 option back in April. At the time, Florida was likely at the back end of that list too since communication was taking place about every three weeks. Also, when we last spoke with Wilson, he mentioned taking an official visit to Florida during the season. I don’t see that changing due to his summer schedule already being full.
