O'Cyrus Torrence continues collecting SEC honors
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators senior offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence was named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week. This is the second consecutive week that Torrence has been named the league’s best offensive lineman.
Adding to his accolades this season, Torrence is the first Gators offensive lineman to claim consecutive offensive lineman of the week honors in the same season. He’s the first offensive lineman to win the award multiple times in the same season since Martez Ivey in 2016.
The Greensburg, Louisiana is the first Florida player to win conference honors in back-to-back weeks since Kyle Trask in 2020, and only the second since Tim Tebow in 2007. The highest-graded guard in the nation according to Pro Football Focus, Torrence paved the way for a season-best 374 rushing yards in the win over South Carolina, the most for Florida in a SEC game in over a decade. The Gators’ 6.1 yard per carry this season ranks second in the FBS and is on track to set a school record.
Torrence was a three-year starter for Billy Napier at Louisiana but wasn’t promised anything when he got to Florida. When the spring depth chart came out he was third string.
I’ve honestly never been third string, probably since my freshman year in high school. So, it was a lot different, but it was fine getting to work my way up and it just made me feel better once I got the starting spot because I was able to prove to them.”

Torrence on track to earn an All-American brick
Torrence hasn’t taken a step back as he transitioned from the Sun Belt to the SEC. In fact, he’s been one of the best offensive linemen in the country. The Associated Press recognized his play by naming him to the its midseason All-American First Team.
The AP All-American list is one of five publications in which a Gator could earn an All-American brick outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Torrence has started six games this season and is the highest-graded guard in the nation according to PFF. The Greensburg, Louisiana native also earned AP Preseason All-American status prior to this season.
Torrence was Secon Team All-Sun Belt as a sophomore in 2020 and First Team All-Sun Belt in 2021. He is also a two-time Joe Moore Award Semifinalist.
