O'Cyrus Torrence named a First Team All-American by Walter Camp
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Prepare the brick. Florida Gators offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence was named a First Team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Torrence is the first Florida offensive lineman to be named a First-Team All-American since Maurkice Pouncey in 2009.
Torrence began playing football in high school as a diet plan, he told the Gators Online Podcast prior to the season. At the time he weighed over 400 pounds and wanted to use football as a means to shed some pounds. Now, eight years down the road he will have a college degree, will be an NFL offensive lineman, and have his name immortalized outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium forever with an All-American brick. Football has gone from a diet plan to a retirement plan for the Louisiana native.
Torrence declared for the NFL Draft on Monday. The starting right guard will also skip the Las Vegas Bowl as he begins to prepare for the next step in his professional career.
Torrence’s time at Florida
The senior transfer from Louisiana came to Florida with sky-high expectations. A three-year starter for Billy Napier at UL, Torrence followed his coach to Florida to test his skill in the SEC. He didn’t disappoint.

“He’s accepted a Senior Bowl invite, you know, he’s moved forward,” Napier said of Torrence. “This guy’s played probably, I don’t know, 3,000-plus snaps in his career. Four years of good football. Proven player and much like Ventrell, you know, been through been banged up at times. So very understandable and a guy that did a phenomenal job for us this year.”
