Five-star Florida commit DJ Lagway is the No. 3 QB in the On3 Industry rankings heading into this week’s Elite 11 Finals, a prestigious quarterback camp in California.

Could he move up before all is said and done in the 20024 cycle?

One person of note thinks that is possible and it’s On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.

“If Lagway continues to improve his overall consistency and has a big senior season, he could challenge as the top quarterback in the cycle,” Power said.

Lagway also has a chance to impress at the Elite 11.

The well-known event is Wednesday-Friday and as Power noted, “The setting allows for a direct side-by-side comparison of many of the cycle’s top passers. We’re able to get a sense for some of the physical tools, passing ability and level of development of the participants. With that said, the Elite 11 is a highly structured setting, absent of a pass rush or a true open environment akin to a live, 11-on-11 football game.”

Both of the quarterbacks ranked ahead of Lagway will be there. That’s Dylan Raiola (Georgia commit) and Julian Sayin (Alabama). You can find the complete roster HERE.

Here’s what Power said about each of these two touted recruits …

RAIOLA: “He had ups and downs as a junior at Chandler (Ariz.) High. At the minimum, the gap between Raiola and the rest of the pack does not appear to be as large as it once appeared. Heading into the Elite 11, we’re eager to compare Raiola’s arm talent and pure passing ability to the rest of the group.”

SAYIN: “The most consistent arm in the cycle to this point – across multiple settings.”

As for Lagway, Power said he loves the physical tools.

“Heading into the event, I’d put my money on DJ Lagway as the most physically-gifted Elite 11 Finalist. At around 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Lagway has one of the strongest arms in the cycle along with very good athleticism. The Willis (Texas) High product’s highs are the best we’ve seen from the group.”

For Lagway, this isn’t just an event to showcase his skills. He’ll also be able to recruit some.

As we’ve previously reported, 5-Star Plus wide receiverJeremiah Smith, an Ohio State commit from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna, will be there to catch passes at the event. Smith and Lagway each officially visited the Gators on June 2-4 and have become friends during the recruiting process.
