Name: Trikweze Bridges

Signed with: Florida Gators

Previous School: Oregon

Position: Safety

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 198 pounds

Hometown: Lanett, Alabama

Quotable

“I grew up in Alabama and always watched SEC football. It was kind of one of my dreams to play in the SEC. Then, Florida — they have the toughest schedule, I’m familiar with their scheme and I just thought it was a great fit.

“I’m naturally a safety with my size — 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. I’m rangy, have speed and my IQ is really good — I can see the field and be the QB on the defense. I can play corner and safety. That’s the versatility I have and bring to the game.

“I was recruited out of high school as a safety, then transitioned to corner my freshman year at Oregon. I’ve been playing that since college, but I’ve played some snaps at safety as well.”

What Gators fans need to know

Bridges had a breakout season in 2022, starting in all 13 games for the Ducks.

He posted a career-high 49 tackles, broke up five passes, hauled in three interceptions, and recorded a forced fumble. He was an All-Pac-12 third-team selection from Pro Football Focus, but in 2023 was surpassed on the depth chart by sophomore Jahlil Florence.

Bridges played high school football at Lanett (Ala.), where he was a 3-star prospect. He was the No. 425 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
