Enoch Wangoy, a Florida Gators offensive tackle commit originally from England, will soon be part of the program’s 2024 class.

Wangoy has reclassified from 2025 and will enroll at the University of Florida in May.

This has been in the works for weeks.

“I’m very excited,” Wangoy told Gators Online. “I’m glad that it’s able to happen — I’m just ready to get to work and be developed. To be honest, it was an easy decision.”

Florida announced Wangoy’s signing Monday morning.

Wangoy is listed at 6-foot-7 and 314 pounds — and originally moved to the United States to play basketball. But he gave football a try last year and after only one season at Jacksonville (Fla.) Zarephath Academy he got the attention of several programs — including Florida.

Wangoy committed to the Gators in March. Florida took his commitment at a time when Wangoy still wasn’t rated by On3. Soon after, On3 and others made him a high 3-star based on his frame, skillset and potential.

Wangoy’s reclassification gives the Gators a fourth offensive linemen in the 2024 class who can play tackle.

What kind of player are the Gators getting in the talented — but raw — recruit?

Enoch Wangoy is a high-upside recruit

Corey Yarbrough, a former offensive lineman for the Florida Gators who now coaches in high school, has trained Wangoy for nearly a year and told Gators Online he thinks Wangoy has an extremely high ceiling.

“Enoch has more God-gifted ability than any offensive lineman I’ve been around at his age,” Yarbrough said. “I was with a bunch of guys that went in the first round and played with me at Florida. Guys like Mo Collins, Kenyatta Walker, Mike Pearson. Those are all guys who were high-round picks that played in the NFL. … I first started working with Enoch in June of last year. He hadn’t been in the weight room much at the time. He’s made tremendous strides in a year and he’s a very hard worker. He’s only played football for two and a half months. I can’t wait to see him in a concentrated program. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Wangoy’s first taste of football inside The Swamp did not disappoint, he said after attending the April 13 Orange & Blue Game.

“It was great,” Wangoy told Gators Online. “The atmosphere was great. Seeing the fans — just being in The Swamp and getting to experience it for the first time was special to me. I definitely enjoyed the game. It definitely made me want to be a Gator more. This is home for me right now.”

At the game, Wangoy paid close attention to Florida offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Jonathan Decoster.

He enjoyed his Orange & Blue Game experience

“I loved it man,” Wangoy said. “Even before the game, I spoke to them. I said I wanted it to be competitive and I was able to see that. Even when there were points in the game when they were running the clock out, they competed. The competition was what I enjoyed.”

One player really caught Wangoy’s attention — a player he’ll someday be blocking for at Florida.

“Man, (quarterback) DJ Lagway is special,” Wangoy told Gators Online. “It’s an honor to be able to play with a player like that. Playing with a player like that, it’s a lot of responsibility for me. But it’s a privilege and to have that pressure to say that one day I can block for him is something I take highly.”

Wangoy is 18. He’ll turn 19 in November.
