RELATED: Takeaways from the Florida Gators’ 31-11 win over FSU
Billy Napier on the Florida Gators win over FSU
“Before we get going here, obviously what happened there at the end of the game is not who we would want to be as a program, okay? And it’s embarrassing to me, and it’s a distraction from a really well-played football game, right? So I want to apologize on behalf of the entire organization, just in terms of how we represented the university there. We shouldn’t have done that. We won’t do that going forward, and there’ll be consequences for all involved, okay.
“So, I do think that, you know, we played complementary ball, you know, and I thought defensively really lights out. Season-high in TFLs and sacks, limited the explosive plays, and then obviously had created some takeaways and were able to take advantage of those on offense and get some points from those. Montrell goes over 3,000 yards, and look, I think, you know, we didn’t have our fastball on offense, you know, I think it was evident there. We had some missed opportunities, and I do think that it could have been worse is what I would say. But I think we struggled at times. We got to play better around the quarterback obviously, across the board there, I think we’ll look back at it, we’ll see that we got to play better around the quarterback. But in general, good ball. Good to see us finish it there in the second half, and then really proud of the leadership of the players. Obviously, we talked all week about finishing the race, and we’re here, so, yeah, proud of our team.”
