TAMPA, Fla. — The Florida Gators won their fourth game in a row Friday with a 33-8 victory over Tulane. UF scored 27 second-half points, forced six total turnovers (three on downs) and Gasparilla Bowl records were set by quarterback DJ Lagway (305 passing yards) and kicker Trey Smack (four field goals).
The Gators finish the season with an 8-5 record.
After the game, I was joined by Gators Online’s Keith Niebuhr to break it all down. In the video below, we share our rapid reaction to Florida’s win against the Green Wave.

Billy Napier on the Florida Gators win over Tulane
“We have a great group of seniors. This senior group is special. We have overcome adversity all season long and this group came together. What an incredible event. Staff with Gasparilla Bowl was first class. A great experience for our players. Lots of credit to Tulane. Played in their conference championship and bounced back. And obviously they didn’t make it easy at times, especially in the first half. Have a ton of respect for Coach Summerall and their team and how they competed. It was an awesome environment. For our fans to come out they did, it felt like a home game in there. To be in Tampa and see Gator Nation out there in full force was special. And then the last thing I would say, obviously this senior group. We overcome some things early in the year and we would have not been able to do that if we didn’t have an incredible group of seniors. I do think for our team, just talking to them last night, there was an obligation. You could feel it in the room. Like hey, let’s make sure that we handle our business here. We were sloppy early, obviously red-zone struggles, a few too many penalties. We had a lot of different pieces (missing) in different spots. I think overall, we created some takeaways, played really good defense. And in general, just weren’t able to capitalize in the red zone possessions. Great week. Great to finish the right way and just really proud of our team and these players.”
