Transfer guard Claudell Harris Jr. will reportedly visit Florida

Charleston Southern transfer guard Claudell Harris Jr. will visit the University of Florida from April 14-16.
The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Dushawn London, who also reported Harris will visit Boston College from April 6-8.
After a 10-21 season with the Buccaneers, Harris put his name into the transfer portal on March 14. He has two seasons of eligibility left.
In his first season with CSU, Harris averaged double digits in the scoring column and averaged 28 minutes. However, it was this season when he took his game to the next level.
In the 2022-23 season, Harris lead his team averaging 17.4 points and 0.9 steals per game. He also posted an average 3.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists.
One stat that stands out is that he improved his field goal percentage from 37% to 46% from his freshman season to his sophomore season.
What Claudell Harris could bring to the Gators
Todd Golden and his staff have lost a total of eight players to the transfer portal or graduation, so there are a number of roster spots that need to be filled.

Five of those players were guards, and Florida lost its primary and secondary ball handlers in Kyle Lofton and Myreon Jones.
“Ball handling skill is going to be something that we’re going to be heavy on,” Golden said regarding recruiting players in the transfer portal. “And then size, physicality. Those are the two areas I think we need to grow quickly to be better next year.”
Harris is a great player with and without the ball in his hands.
With the ball, all Harris needs is a simple head fake or spin move to get a bit of separation from his opponent to knock down a shot. His lethal scoring ability also creates opportunities for his teammates.
The film shows the 6-foot-3, 190 pound guard has a high basketball IQ and consistently gets to his spots on the court. Oftentimes, his Charleston Southern teammates would find him wide open beyond the arc for an easy three.
Outside of Riley Kugel, the Florida roster currently lacks a consistent scorer. Harris brings that to the table and plenty more.
