Per Bleacher Report, “He arguably was the NFL Scouting Combine’s MVP. As Vic Tafur of The Athletic noted, Richardson ‘ran a 4.43 40-yard dash, set position records in the vertical and broad jumps and then effortlessly threw the ball 50 yards down the field Saturday.’

The 6’4″, 244-pound quarterback has a boatload of potential, and he’s also just 20 years old (21 on May 22). Ted Nguyen of The Athletic also called Richardson one of the best scheme fits in the entire draft alongside head coach Shane Steichen, who helped dual threat Jalen Hurts become one of the league’s most dominant superstars when he served as the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator.

It’s easy to envision Richardson becoming a perennial Pro Bowler in Indianapolis and finally ending the quarterback roulette that has taken place in town since Andrew Luck’s retirement in August 2019.

One ESPN talent is particularly high on Richardson

Dan Orlovsky of ESPN has had high praise for Richardson.

“Anthony Richardson, the rookie quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, will win Offensive Rookie of the Year,” Orlovsky recently predicted. “The unicorn talent where he can beat you with his arm, his legs, and his mind. Matched with Shane Steichen who comes over from Philadelphia, worked wonders with Jalen Hurts. He’s going to absolutely take off and be dominant this year. …They’ve got Jonathan Taylor, that offensive line will be a little bit better, some big perimeter players, offensive rookie of the year in Indianapolis.”

Orlovsky also praised Richardson in another interview.

“I still think that Anthony Richardson is going to, very much so, surprise people this year,” he said on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ “I still believe that because of the element of the coach matchup and his athleticism. It’s going to be real, man.”

Per Kaiden Smith of On3, “Steichen was seminal in the development and recent improvement of Hurts, which led to a fantastic season for him last season where he achieved career highs in passing yards with 3,701, passing touchdowns with 22, and rushing touchdowns with 13, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance.”
