The Florida Gators and N.C. State Wolfpack were set to play each other in football in 2026 and 2032, but according to FBSchedules that home-and-home series has been canceled.

Per FBSchedules, “According to a copy of the termination agreement obtained from North Carolina State University via a public records request, the two schools have mutually agreed to cancel the two-game series. Neither school will pay the other a cancellation fee, per the copy of the agreement. NC State has already moved to replace the canceled Florida game in 2026. The Wolfpack announced in May that they had scheduled a home-and-home football series with fellow ACC member Virginia for 2025 and 2026, with both games played as non-conference contests.”

The 2026 game was to take place at N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium with the 2032 return game schedule to be at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.

Now, Florida is left with only two non-conference opponents for 2026 — Campbell and Florida State. In 2032, the Gators have conference games scheduled against Notre Dame and FSU.

Florida and Cal canceled a home-and-home earlier this year.

At this time, SEC teams play eight conference games. But there has been talk that a nine-game league schedule is possible in the future. Additionally, there have been reports the SEC and Big Ten ultimately could agree to some sort of scheduling agreement, although SEC commissioner Greg Sankey downplayed that idea this week.

The Gators and Wolfpack have played 14 times, with Florida holding a 9-4-1 series lead. They last met in the 1992 Gator Bowl. Florida won 27-10.

Also of note, Gators legend Steve Spurrier beat N.C. State twice as a player, in 1965 and 1966. In 1975, the Wolfpack team coached by Lou Holtz beat the Gators in the final minutes, 8-7 in Raleigh. That loss ultimately kept Florida from posting its first 10-win season.
