North Texas transfer guard Tylor Perry will officially visit the University of Florida this weekend. The news was first reported by 247Sports’ Jacob Rudner.

The 5-foot-11, 182 pound guard entered the transfer portal on Monday and has since received interest from a number of high major programs. He also entered his name in the 2023 NBA Draft while keeping his college eligibility.

After starting his career at Coffeyville Community College, Perry quickly made his name known at the Division 1 level at North Texas.

In the 2022-23 season, Perry averaged 17.3 points on 43.7% from the floor and 41.3% from 3-point land, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals. His efforts led to him being named 2023 Conference USA Player of the Year and the 2023 NIT Most Outstanding Player in the Mean Green’s NIT title run.

Perry is currently slated as the No. 28 player in the transfer portal with a four star, 94 overall rating.

The 2023-24 season will be Perry’s fifth and final season of eligibility after his freshman season at Coffeyville CC was cut short due to COVID-19.

What Perry brings to the table

After watching the film, all you can say is that Perry has NBA range from behind the 3-point line. This season alone, he hit 20 treys from 25 feet out or further.

Regardless of whether there is a hand in his face, he plans to take the shot, and there’s a good chance it will fall.

The Oklahoma native ranks in the 86th percentile in catch and shoot efficiency field goal percentage (59%) and in the 90th percentile in efficiency field goal percentage (90%).

Perry fits with Florida’s offense in the sense that he can dominate as an off-ball screen handler or in isolation. And he doesn’t let his size affect him when he’s driving to the rack as he typically invites contact.

He’ll be able to complement whoever UF’s point guard is as a secondary ball handler much like Myreon Jones was able to do for Kyle Lofton this past season.

Defensively, Perry is sneaky quick to force steals and create points in transition, which Todd Golden’s squad fed off this season.
