Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson will get a chance to serve as a counselor for the prestigious Manning Passing Academy.

For over 25 years, the Manning Passing Academy has been helping players fully realize their potential on and off of the football field. Welcoming youth quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends to the annual clinic, the Manning Passing Academy “helps you grasp the fundamentals of your position, and basic offensive and defensive strategies.”

Richardson will have the opportunity to work with campers as a counselor. It is also an opportunity for Richardson to work next to some of the other elite quarterbacks in the country. Not to mention get the opportunity to learn from Peyton and Eli Manning.

Each year, the camp seeks out coaches and players from the professional, college, and high school ranks to help teach and mentor those youth players who attend the camp. Richardson will have the opportunity to learn and work with College Football Hall of Famer Archie and NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning along with two-time Super Bowl Champion Eli Manning.

Numerous previous Manning Passing Academy counselors have gone on to collegiate and professional success. Most recently, three former attendees were selected in the NFL Draft in Kenny Pickett (Pittsburgh), Malik Willis (Liberty), and Matt Corral (Mississippi).

Richardson leaves spring camp the presumptive starter

When the Gators began spring camp, Richardson was in a battle with Emory Jones and Ohio State transfer Jack Miller. Just a few practices into spring camp, Jones made the decision to enter the transfer portal. That left just Richardson and Miller to battle it out for the starting job.

Both quarterbacks took reps with the first team throughout camp but it was Richardson that came out on top. He completed 18-of-24 pass attempts for 207 yards and two touchdowns in the spring game. Richardson added 30 rushing yards on six carries and another touchdown with his legs.

“I feel like I played good, you know. I was coming out there. My main focus was just staying consistent, playing fast,” Richardson said after the game. “I had some good highs and some bad lows. So I just try to find like a midpoint out there and just stay consistent throughout that whole time.”

Miller, who operated with the second-team offense, had a rocky debut. He completed 13-of-23 pass attempts for 121 yards and an interception.

The Florida Gators will open the 2022 season on September 3, hosting reigning Pac-12 champion Utah at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
