Riley Kugel deciding Monday between three SEC teams, including Gators
One of the top remaining uncommitted players in the 2022 class, four-star guard and top-50 overall recruit Riley Kugel, announces his decision on Monday and the Gators are one of his finalists.
Kugel will join On3’s Joe Tipton to make his commitment on Instagram Live at 6 PM ET. He will choose between Florida, Georgia and LSU.
The 6-foot-5, 175-pound Kugel is ranked the No. 46 player nationally and the No. 5 shooting guard in the On3 Consensus. He previously signed with Mississippi State but reopened his recruitment March 22.
Florida hosted Kugel for an official visit on April 15, the same weekend as former Virginia Military Institute guard Trey Bonham, who became the third transfer to commit to Florida.

Kugel was recruited by former Mississippi State assistant coach Korey McCray, who is now on Todd Golden’s. His teammate at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando is Denzel Aberdeen, the lone signee in UF’s 2022 class.
On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw recently saw Kugel at the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament and gave the elite guard some high praise:
“This type of dominating performance has become one we expect from Kugel each game,” Shaw wrote. “Even in the games where he faced off against the nationally ranked players, Kugel has routinely been the best on the floor.”
Scouting Report on Riley Kugel
“At 6-5, Kugel has long arms and a physically developed frame. He is comfortable on the ball, showcasing great vision to set up his teammates and his jump shot extends well beyond the arc. His explosion has become a weapon as he gets past his man and is a threat to get on the rim when he touches the paint. Plays with a competitive fire. Good in the passing lanes. Three-level scorer.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s national recruiting analyst
